  • Gasifier Controls

  • Sherwin refurbished a 30+ year old PLC installation with a new PLC and enabled internet connectivity for alarms and the HMI interface.  The installation is on a Gasifier that uses lumber yard scrap to provide heat for 10 Kilns.  The gasifier generates very little ash and CO2, while providing 24/7 connectivity.  Table top testing and documentation were performed prior to installation yielding a very short down time on the system.

  • Test Stand

  • Designed and built a pressure testing system for plastic chlorine containers.  The PLC controlled system has been on line for over 11 years and provided a safe spill free work environment.

  • Diorama interactive display

  • Sherwin installed a PC and motor control system on a diorama 22 years ago.  The system ran all that time with no problems.  The Museum wanted to retire the Gateway computer with Windows 98 and update the system to a robust current day controller.  The refurbishment uses a modern PLC with an HMI with voice over motion on the diorama.

  • The HMI panel was designed to fit the motif of the display and the nature of the Adirondacks.

  • Remediation System

  • When the current Plattsburgh Air was the Plattsburgh  Air Force base, Sherwin installed 3 PLCs controlling 9 pumps, a water treatment plant, a pressure/vacuum system and a Catalytic converter on the fire fighting range.  After 12 years of operation, the system removed over 95,000 gallons of JP4 fuel from the surface water.  The system also included a Scada system providing current and historical data for the remediation field.
